One of the guys on my crew when I worked on the north slope took this picture. Ran across it this morning and though you folks might enjoy it. He's standing on two 4x4s and a 1/2" plywood sign board.

That tail serves a significant purpose for those in the know.

The red fox is not indigenous to the north slope. They say it came up the haul road one sandwich at a time. Crew members feeding fox was a constant battle, despite many restrictions and tickets. The drilling crews were some of the worst for feeding wildlife and seemed to think they were untouchable. And judging by the leniency granted them, it was apparently true.

Being bigger and more aggressive, the red fox have displaced a lot of arctic fox.
