Since I hunt the Adirondack Mountains and Tug Hill Plateau in November and early December. -33 merino wool base layer was the best money I've spent on hunting gear in a long time.

Looking into replacing some hunting clothes and also gearing up for a September Colorado elk trip. From my little bit of research, looks like merino wool is the ticket. I’ve always used Scentlok clothing for the whitetail woods, so this lightweight stuff is new to me. Is Kuiu worth the money? Are there quality alternatives? I don’t mind spending the money on good stuff, but I’m not purchasing it just to wear the name. Looking for a layered lightweight camo that packs easily and will hold up to the elements. Any recommendations? Thanks

For socks, i found Alpaca socks to be the warmest and driest. I have alot of merino wool socks including minus 33 and the alpaca wins hands down.
My base layers are all merino wool i have 3 sets in 3 different weights. I also hunt the Adk mountains in NY.

SKRE had a good sale, I was able to get merino base layers, a lightweight top and pair of pants. Got 12 pairs of socks too, figured dry socks are important. Also a merino beanie and neck gaiter.

Plan to get more in the future if I like these.

Any suggestions on lightweight packable rain gear? I have a thin pair of camo grundens I use on the boat, could take these to save money

Kuiu makes the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn……..but I only buy the stuff that’s on sale…..too much $$.
