Thoughts on Chevron reticles? Know I talked to soem guys who love them from messing with ACOG's ..never had this style till now though

Never heard of them, what's the point? Looks like a lot going on there.

So the original...or I guess the most well known and used , came from and is under in the ACOG from trigicon . It's a combat optic. There more into as far as using the whole thing to range but apparently it worked well in actual combat and the Marines love it

Why a Chevron.....idk I mean I know some said it's better because that tip of the chevron is like a infinitely fine aiming point which is good for a low powder optic.... But I legit never really cared about them till now

I mean the the windage and elevation dots arnt anything really crazy . Second focal plane scope so for as useful if . But if you keep you eye in the scope they are nice for helping with follow up shots .

Shoot miss , see what dot was close to the bullet impact, use that as a temp aiming point

Primary Arms is the main brand standing behind the Chevron/ACSS reticles in almost all of their product lines to include red dots, prism, and scopes with multiple reticles for various pursuits.

IMO, they thrive best for bullet on target goals like combat/self defense or hunting at reasonable ranges. For absolute precision such as extreme range, tightest group, or sniping they may not be the most precise option. But the same could probably be said of any BDC reticle not exactly matched to the variables and conditions of the cartridge.

I myself like the concept of these reticles in a LPVO ffp scope where it could function like a red dot at low power and close range and give good enough for government work at all other powers and ranges.

Theyre fine for what they were designed for.

The "designated holdover" points of course are subject to ammo type and weapon configuration.


For precision shooting, I far prefer the "floating dot" type reticles.

This is how my Acog works. It strait 4 power has fiber optic and tritium so the chevron always glows. Well it did before the tritium wore out. Beside the range finding it works beter for me than a red dot with my astigmatism red dots looked like a blurry star.
