I lived in Goshen AR for a year. If you got a PO box in Goshen you used your Goshen address. If you wanted RFD to your mailbox on the street you used Elkins as your address as thats where the rural carrier came out of. No rural carrier out of Goshen.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

We live rural so out west here we get delivery by man & horse. You got to keep a sack of carrots around for the horse and my wife gives the man a cookie when she fresh bakes them. You guys problem is you are not taken care of your mail person.

I still write letters to family members and they write letters back (and lost art form).

All that can come 2x a week.

Not sure it would fit, but I was answering your question about who gets mail still that not just junk. Not about doing away with USPS and hiring out.
What happens though when it's hired out and they can't handle it?
Which is bound to happen. Does mail get piled up and lost?
I think the system needs revamped, with lower pay and benefits. Government wages and benefit packages are out of hand high IMO

I don't hate the Postal Service, it's just another example of govt miss spending.

I can see why they lose money.if there not any better delivering mail then in the rest of the us then they are here.i try to do everything on line as far as paying bills.ive mailed bills out as soon as they come in the mail and they still dont make it there by the due date.if you call the company and tell them you mailed it out weeks ago they acknowledge the mail is terrible and will take the late fee off that's why I pay online.if any other business was run like that they would go under in a heartbeat.its pathetic.

Easiest way to remedy this is get a job at the post office.

Yeah for a government office it might be typical. However to better serve the public they could stagger their lunch break. If they cared, but those two obviously don't.

My camp is in the village of Moshannon. The post office here closed up a couple years ago.

I blame it all on the appointment of Louis DeJoy as Postmaster general. He has completely dismantled what was once a reliable service. My brother has been waiting for a large check that was mailed three weeks ago from just 80 miles away. It's completely nuts. My little post office is just open three hours a day and two on Saturday.

I send packages and they take a tour of the USA before comping back to me because their scanners looked at the return address. Postal worker morale is in the toilet form why I see locally anyway. Ever try to get your money back on an undelivered package? Nice try anyway right?

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Don't you have giant Smurf mushrooms, Amanita muscaria/fly agaric/fly amanita mushrooms in Texas? Do you build your villages out of giant tacos, burritos and chimichangas instead? That's positively un-American.

Take staggered lunch breaks so someone is always on duty.Especially if your only going to be open for those short hours.Buch of bums.Thats like saying I want a job from noon till one,,with an hour for lunch.

I'd like to see them go to delv 2 days/week, they could cut delvy staff by 2/3.
Our PO has one person behind the counter, thats all thats in the place except for the time the delv people are there sorting/prepping for delv.

Also I think bulk rates should be increased, would cut down junk mail and allow the PO to be more towards or in the black.

A PO delivery person told me junk mail is what keeps them employed.

I get almost no US mail I want or need. I got my property tax bill, twice this year, that I needed to pay. I got some plants from Beaverpeeler, about a month after he shipped them, which are doing great. I got one money order. I don't think I got a single other piece of relevant or wanted mail this year. I get multiple pieces of mail almost every day, except Sunday. That's hundreds of pieces of mail, I almost entirely throw away, without opening.

Great for lighting the fire at trapping camps, skinning sheds and wash house in winter.
