Going from memory. This was recommended by Scuba. Don't know the chemival but it's whatever is in Frontline Plus. 7 drops in a small can of chicken. Don't use more because you don't want them to die instantly. You want them to live long enough to make it back to the nest and poison the queen. Somebody smarter than I can maybe find the old post and put up a link?

By the time I typed it someone smarter than me (Zim) found it. He may be smarter but I didn't run over a yellow jacket nest. grin

At my hunting club, we mix pancake syrup with Sevin dust. Pour it on a small paper plate and place it where yellow jackets frequent.

Have no idea if it works or not.

I sure did not look too smart at the time corky. Yesterday I brush hogged 3/8 of a mile of field road, mowed an acre of the goat pasture we call a lawn
and then while trimming on a steep bank behind one garage I run over a nest with the push mower. lol Little sob's lit me up good.

Will this work on bumble bees too?

Fipronil is not labeled for bees and wasps due to its highly lethal effects on them. The transfer effect can do lots of damage due to its chemical nature on other pollinators and its lasting effects.

Nothing like bush hogging a hornet's nest. A friend left his tractor where he baled out. It eventually ran out of Diesel fuel. You could have bought that tractor real cheap that afternoon, and he might have thrown in the farm to sweeten the deal.

For goodness sake don't use anything sweet. Use meat based as Yellowjackets and hornets like meat. Honey and bumbles do not.

This is timely, I found a yellow jacket nest under my raised porch last week and tried spraying it after dark. My mistake was leaving the back porch lights on. My spray wasn't very effective at killing yellow jackets, but have you heard the phrase kicking a hornets nest? That's basically what I did. That nest is about 15' from my full glass back patio door. With the lights on, the swarm of yellow jackets were out for vengeance. They were bouncing off the glass door like hail. I stayed up for the next hour patrolling inside the house to make sure they didn't find a way in.
