A school teacher in the Raleigh, NC area was just stabbed to death in her home by her boyfriend. Flock camera footage showed him leaving the area. Another camera in Pennsylvania spotted his vehicle, and he was promptly arrested.

Hard to argue that the killer's rights were violated.

And somehow it was unknown that she had a boyfriend that was a problem or his name or his vehicle or his tag number or where he lived.

Thank Big Brother for those cameras since all that other was somehow unknown and undiscoverable.

And just think all the overtime pay we just saved for the detectives.

Not take a look at all the cops geting busted using them in properly stalking there love intrest and others. Its national. Many in several departments not isolated one offs.

Run the numbers of the % of peopel tracked and any convictions and the price tag and tell me it pencils out.

In the above case the guy would have been caught anyway. They are just looking for good press tor the surveillance system.

I would think her friends and family would freely give up that information.
Once they have a name, it's not hard to get the plate number.
Everything is very close to being public information.
Take a name, search public land tax records , you have the address, and from there it gets easy.
Been doing that since the 1960's to find places to trap.
The address just gives you the information in reverse.

Remember the propaganda goes both ways.

Justice could be swift. DNA matches might convict or free the accused. If he ran away with your granddaughter, how would you feel? He is innocent until proven guilty. If he has her blood on his hands, God help him. A flock camera only helped find him. A jury must ultimately decide his fate. That is important: the Flock camera helps, but cannot convict. We all have our day in court.

I only see a benefit to law abiding people. If you are not a law abiding citizen, you have aright to remain silent and an attorney will be provided at no cost.

We are the land of the free, but not the land where criminals run free. The camera does not convict.

I guess you cant be bothered to read the link about the cops misusing them. First story in it is a female cop using them to stalk her man's ex girlfriend. There are 10 examples in that one link about one department that are thousand of examples nation wide. I guess you have no regard for those law abiding victims.

One solved case doesn’t magically turn mass surveillance into a public service

No doors were busted. The suspect was in a public location on a public road. He has every right he had before. We the people have an excellent tool and some physical evidence placing him near the crime scene in NC and where he fled to in PA.

Seems the benefits far outweigh the liberties he never sacrificed. Does he have the right to hide from the truth that he killed his girl friend. Yes he does. Do police have the public mandate to search and question him? Of course.

A Flock camera is only a tool. It does not decide whose vehicle to photograph. A felon is not singled out indiscriminately.

Suppose a satellite filmed his vehicle. Would that be different? Times are changing. Technology can help.

Does Canada use flock cameras? I wonder if they were used to track down the crooks who went to church during the plandemic or to find those criminal truckers who wouldn't take a vaccine?

The crooks try to work around it by wearing hoodies and covid masks when up to their antics.
Crooks are stupid for the most part-the guy that shot the healthcare executive in the back in NY was identified when he pulled his mask down for a few seconds to flirt with a girl and was caught on camera.
As far as those foreign backed arseholes that tried to take over our capital-they got off way too easy.

There’s been cams up everywhere downtown in the cities for a long time. And there’s doorbell cams and security cams everywhere. Don’t even bring up phones…..lol. We’ve been “watched” for a long time. I’d be worried if I had something to hide, but they just don’t have the bodies to look at everything……..but if they want to it’s there.
The church people that got busted around here did it to prove a point and were kinda flaunting it. The other church groups that got together never got busted. They just didn’t brag about their gatherings on the local news. They wanted attention, they got it.

If I do something stupid and get caught on camera, its on me and ill pay the piper. I think many just dont like the idea of more accountability and more chances of getting caught ...
