Have any of you guys noticed any advantage of pan activated body grips vs the circle triggers??
Been thinking about changing out all my 120s with circle triggers and adding the regular triggers back and then using corrugated plastic for pans.
Have any of you guys noticed trigger avoidance with any triggers??

It depends on what your target species is. Mine a wooden pans, tuned to a hair trigger, and my trap will take Franklin ground squirrel, skunks and raccoons, the three top duck nest predators. My trap sets pan out at the front of the box.

If I were to target mink, which in my opinion is a low percentage set in my area, I would set pan in, deep slots in the box with the trap up near the bait and it’s possible to,often enough, catch the mink backing out of the box whilst wrestling with the bait….

On the other hand, my traps set with a monofilament fishing line circle held with silicone tubing will belly catch any mink as it darts through the loop and can be set at the front of the box., the mink box works best after freeze up.

A mink can detect and crawl through a standard trigger…

I would say it depends how are planning to use them baited box/pocket or trail blind setting. Since I FINALY gave circle triggers a try after 50 yrs trying every other configuration of shape with existing twin wires. I have only been able to take one or two mink dry land trail setting every year I have kept trying a couple dozen such sets a 40-50 mink season(I’m a Charlie Brown and that set is my football, lol). We have a very short open water period so BG’s would really extend the season when comp has dropped. Came across wire that was right(bicycle spokes)to make a few to try. The result was that out of 15 set in snow trails in three weeks I took 14 mink and one m’rat(I didn’t reset any because I was checking them on the way to work in dark). Only one mink refused to go thru and one small one passed thru with out firing(fine by me). I was SHOCKED by their effectiveness. Biggest equipment improvement for me in many years. Kicking myself for being resistant to not trying them years ago. Of coarse mink prices crash that year so I haven’t made an effort to really put them to use. Further limited experimenting have for me circles are about equal to pan at boxes and take catch pan hoppers. And when using circles it is much better to have trigger pivot at bottom of trap as the it fire much easier. I had to make custom stands for this but I wanted one that was easy to put down on frozen ground/ice after ice up. Just a 1’ piece of 1x6 with holes midway to push in a square hoop of 1/8” bent rod(tripod wreath holders are great and free for me) with a metal coniclip tack welded to the top. Circles are also great for places where mink are going into holes. They also work fine in underwater or B E sets but I have never the dry land refusal I had with other trigger shapes. Circles are vey easy to make yourself, cheap or can be bought. I would surely give them a try.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.
