After seeing confederate railroad last week ( which was a little disappointing) I got to thinking that it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever been to. Went and saw trace adkins when he was starting out and he kinda gave out vibes like he didn’t want to be there.. I dunno if he was drunk at the time. The best I ever saw was a 3 headliner type of show.. Firehouse, trixter, and warrant.. They were recording quality good both musically and vocally and they knew how to entertain the massive crowd that night.
Do you guys have a best and worst list??

Can’t really say I have a best, my wife and I attend a lot of concerts. I definitely have a list of “some of the best “. Some of the better ones Time McGraw at Cheyenne frontier days about ten years ago Luke Combs Brooks and Dunn Zach Bryan Blackhawk Alan Jackson Diamond Rio Riley Green Morgan Wallen
Everclear Collective Soul (saw them twice decades apart, equally good shows) The Tragically Hip GNR Poison Def Leppard
I’m always searching online for concerts and like to listen to many genres, would love to attend one at Red Rocks. We particularly like festivals, if anyone knows one that features either country or 90s alternative rock that are worth attending, I’m all ears.

Best one-Pink Floyd Ivor Wynn stadium in Hamilton in 75 Another good one -Jerry Lee Lewis at wembly stadium London aroumd 1974 Another good one was Rush at the high school in Cochrane when they still had Rutsy as their drummer and they played their first album songs.I believe that was in 73 or 74. Another good one was Johnny Winter in Toronto at massy hall also around 1075 Another good one was Bob Seger and Molly Hatchett in Florida in March 1980 in Miami.
The worst band I ever seen live was aerosmith in Toronto around 1975

Mostly good experiences. From Garth Brooks, Hank Williams Jr, Elton John,REO Speedwagon, The Cars, Heart, John Denver, Alan Jackson , Clint Black to Zack Brown band. Most disappointing because it was a huge stadium concert was probably Billy Joel who I love But he was so far away.

worst
well different things were the worst part of 3 different concerts
1 my wife got ill at about 15 minutes in she was like we have to go I am going to be sick , drove to her mothers to pick the kids up and go home about 2 feet in the door and 20 minutes after leaving the venue , it was coming out both ends at the same time.
2 we went to the see the opening act a folk couple that harmonized very well we had seen them before , they were opening for a band we had not heard of but we won tickets so it was free. well they picked up a drum kit and drummer than totally killed their vibe and drowned out their vocals which was what we were there to hear. so their act was so-so , we did not really appreciate the main act they were a grateful dead like jam band and the base hit so hard it shook my head even with ear pugs in sitting half way back in the theater so we left and enjoyed the night out without kids till we had to go home.
3 then this last March went to see an artist we have followed for a long time , I took a friend of mine he and I went for good Mexican food before the concert I had bought the tickets 2 months after my wife passed and told my buddy if I didn't have someone better looking to take by the time of the concert 8 months out , he was going. The main act was exactly as expected , the opening act , good lord were we confused for the first 10-15 minutes we were thinking is this guy a Chris Farley type impersonator doing bad Saturday night live skits singing songs out of tune , guitar out of tune , would just fall into a like same cord over and over like he was the only one in the theater into it like he got stuck like a skipping record. the lyrics were awful like an angry 15 year old boy had written them it was like (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) is he trying to do this or is he so stoned out of his mind , it was just confusing as heck.
I tend to think it was one of his first times on stage with that large of an audience maybe 250-300 people in a small theater and he got nervous and got very stoned because I checked some of his online recordings and he wasn't out of tune or off key singing in those.
But I kid you not he could have been Chris Farley doing an awful skit on SNL but it just went on and on and on , it was uncomfortable to watch and like a car wreck , I was waiting for it to be a joke or get better but it didn't it just ended bad as well.
my buddy told me my assessment of that was far to kind and that dude needed a stay at Mendota Mental like maybe for ever. if you are not familiar Mendota Mental is the Phyc hospital that is on the north east shore of Lake Mendota in Madison it has an interesting reputation and you can see it across the lake from the state capitol.
Best Concerts , wow there have been so many good ones
some of my favorites have been at a music festival I volunteer with often at the small stage we call the Roots and Reasons stage.
Mike Seager was great
The Goose Island Ramblers were great
Mark Savoy and his family Cajun band back when he was in good health , saw his wife with her band this year at the festival she was good.
Bill Miller , his session on the roots and reasons stage turned into him leading a jam with the audience of Knocking on heavens door
Fox Valley this year was great.
Jerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman a rag time duo were great
one of my first concerts once I was old enough to go by myself , was Alisson Kraus , in the early 90s with her band Union Station that was at the county fair.
when the live performance out does the album audio and then the audience is into it as well and the whole atmosphere is just good those are great performances. It helps we have some great sound techs that will really bring out the artists in ways you don't hear seeing them in a lot of bars and theaters.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Paul McCartney, Elton John, Pink Floyd (at the VET in Philly) all were amazing

I started a list to compare concerts with Zim's son who actually loves the same music. I'm probably missing a few but this is where it is so far...
Pink Floyd Supertramp The Who Peter Gabriel Genesis Rush Nazareth Billy Squire Triumph Def Leppard Heart Cheap Trick Foreigner Joe Walsh Deep Purple The Kinks Ozzie Osbourne Black Sabbath Blue Oyster Cult Moody Blues Crosby Stills & Nash Neil Young Van Halen Robin Trower Styx Journey Kansas Beach Boys The Police Manheim Steamroller
The best were Pink Floyd at Milwaukee County Stadium. I hate to say it, but I think the worst was Crosby Stills and Nash at the Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee. That was a later concert (1990) and for some reason, they seemed unable to harmonize. It wasn't good.
Did anyone else belong to Stardate Concert Club back in the 70's? My brother and I shared a membership and for the Stardate concerts, we scored tickets somewhere in the first 5 rows. That didn't apply to Landmark Productions, which ran the stadium concerts.

I don't have much to base this on as I have been to only 4 concerts....all were Alabama in the late 80s and 90s.
All were great!

I have seen a lot and love the 3 or more headliners format. In San Antonio one year I saw Suzy Boogus, Eddie Raven, Little Texas, and Restless Heart. A couple of years ago they had a deal over in Montgomery Co. that led will Doug Stone and Mark Wills but ended with Pam Tillis and Diamond Rio.
Those are the shows I've learned to dig.
Oh and a year ago we saw Johhny Lee, TG Shepherd, and Moe Bandy back to back in Helotes. Good stuff..

Ironically what I thought was the worst concert ended up being a heart breaker. I had 5 bulls out at the CBR finals one year and Chris Ledoux sang after the short go. He only sang for about 40 mins and had to excuse himself saying he was ill and needed to see a doctor. His band Western Underground said they'd play until nobody wanted to dance anymore and they did. It was a stand up thing to do.
A month or 2 later Chris passed away. Im fairly certain I saw his last live performance but when I got to meet his boy Ned I never tried to confirm that. It would have seemed morbid.

Oh and a year ago we saw Johhny Lee, TG Shepherd, and Moe Bandy back to back in Helotes. Good stuff.. I agree that these type are the best of shows. I mentioned Luke combs and Riley Green in my post, they along with Lainey Wilson made up one show here just as I mentioned brooks and Dunn and Morgan Wallen but Ella Langley who was second out after Waylynn Wyatt that night with them wasn’t bad either. They were both excellent shows. All day outdoor festivals are the best in my books. Again, any hot tips on a must see festival that annually has a great lineup?
