Just getting ready to check in to the Airbnb and then going to the museum tomorrow. Looks like a great adventure for the day and then heading back home Sunday. Has anyone ever been to the Adirondack museum and have any suggestions.

Ive been there many times. It’s a great place showcasing the Adirondacks. Check out the firearms display, the double shot muzzleloader belonged to the famous trapper and Adirondack mountain man Nat Foster. I am a descendent of his. Also, check out the guide boat display, the hermit of Cold River Rondeau’s hut, hard to believe he lived in that thing. I visited his hermitage in the 1980’s and the hut was still there. Also Mike Virklers log cabin that was built for the most part without any metal fasteners.

Sometime in September they have a rustic furniture show in Blue Mtn. Lake, and the best artisans are invited on museum grounds.

Also a display of everything they used to use to harvest ice blocks from the lake,,back before refrigeration.

Awesome guys, we’ve always wanted to come check it out and only live a couple hours away just over the border in VT. Tomorrow should be a great time there. Staying just a couple places down the road from the museum. Thanks for your responses

Almost forgot to say that we stopped in Warren and got a couple of the famous grinders, we both got half grinders and could only eat half of them

I am guessing if you'd have invented the best sleeping pill ever you'd have still starved back then.

Want a cabin- here's a hand saw and a team.
Want to warm the cabin- use same tools.
Want to refrigerate some things- add a few tools and git back to work.
Want meat and put a deer down- you did build a smoker right?

Lots of work I am betting 2 swigs out of a jar and you slept great back then.
