Have to get a new job now that 3 months from a knee replacement, everything is full time an has been difficult finding a part time job that I can do, filled out online 3 applications, 1 I got email today to take a automated interview with 7 questions, had to go to t mobile store to figure out how my phone was going to be able to do it, had have camera on, I'm afraid some questions I answear, was more then 1 reply an some may have not got a answer, why do employers make it so difficult to apply nowadays for a job, I hope I hear back as if not by mid next week, well be forced to apply to full time job an hard to find 1 with out overtime, , I'm not sure after knee replacement and being out of shape that can hack it full time, I have try both temp places in town an nothing for PT or 2nd shift, drove by today an the electronic job sign in front of express temps was advertising 2nd shift, maybe they just don't want me, I was email a recruiter that dealt with yrs back from express, everything is online and electronic nowadays with computers, the job interview with automated system today was ridiculous hard to do

Go on the offensive! Put the word out that an old fart just out of knee surgery is looking for part time work. Finding DEPENDABLE employees can be hard and make sure they know that you will show up for work each day and won't be playing on your phone all the time.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Seems like you could have a part time retail job here pretty easy. Working at a gas station even. Working at a Subway in a gas station seems pretty easy. How close is one of those?

every school district here needs bus drivers. that would be easy on your knee. all automatics now. most of them send along a babysitter so all you do is drive

Seems like Subway would be tough on the knees - standing all the time. You need to find something where you can sit, at least part of the time. Brush up on your computer skills or learn some new ones. That seems to be how the future is going to be.

Good Luck!

All kind of merchandiser jobs out that that are part time. Anderson, Crossmark, Premium, Accosta to name the main ones that are in walmart and a few other stores. You do get a good bit of walking with those jobs and you dont have to do deal with customers, at all. You do have to deal with the management in the stores though which isnt bad unless theres a display a client really wants out and your store management hates it.

Snipers post made me think of another option for ya Dave. My last job was merchandising, but I worked directly for Lowes.... they have their own merchandisers. What you would do is stock and organize the shelves of product, create displays, and move stuff around. Another option would be to work in receiving in a store like Lowes or Home Depot or Menards. You would unload trucks as they come in. Nothing too heavy, pretty easy work. I can't speak for the other 2 stores, but I know Lowe's pays pretty decently.

Start calling tree services, landscapers and lawnservices, assuming you have a good driving record let them know you can drive a truck and trailer but are limited in physical capabilities at the moment, should be able to wrangle up something quick

Dave, it would be seasonal, but have you thought about running a harvester, or a planter and maybe a riding mower, the rest of the warm part of the year? It would have to be better than working in a factory. You could undoubtedly pick up more trapping ground if you helped some farmers out.

Security work, overnight, at a desk may be a good fit for you too.

Sounds like a door greater at Walmart may be worth looking into for you. They are ther for more than just saying hello. They are also keeping an eye out when they call out a code Adam among other things . Thats when a kid goes missing. May not seem mile much but its pretty important if its your kid thats missing . Im not sure of the pay but have heard its much more than it used to be. You may like it. If not it may be something you can do tell you recover and get back into shape and find something else.
