Swedish or a German guy? I’m a Husqy guy myself, but couldn’t pass this new “old” stock 500i for $1599CAD (about $1100) with a 24”. Added a 32” with a few chains too. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/08/full-56418-299267-image.jpg)

Stay far away from the “homeowner” grade saws is all I can say. Swedish or German. Also gotta keep that tip out of the dirt. One hit and shut er down. A swipe on each tooth is enough unless you hit a stone, up and cutting again in a couple minutes. It’s bloody painful watching property owners clearing stuff after a storm, dangerous as heck with their dull chains and smoking bars too. “Oh yea! I used to cut a couple cords a day on the farm every fall” There piles of vids out there on YouTube of the action……lol

I actually used a 565 with a 32” yesterday at the base of an elm. Bar just barely made it to the inside of the bark on the other side. She bangs!

Sure was nice when I could climb them and be confident my legs were not going to give out and my arms would hold me and my saw as expected. It really stinks to have the know how, experience, and, and equipment and hesitat to climb and remove the half of a small maybe 18" and 50 foot cherry one half has fallen and smashed up a storage building. I only need to climb maybe 25' and notch it and drop the top out into the field above the lean then I can drop the rest into the lean and it will clear the rest of the building. Health problems suck. One day when no one is home( to stop me) and im feeling well I will probably take her down. Or die but I guess thats better than feeling worthless and not being able to do things.
And im a sthil guy even though my only top handle is an echo 2511 right now. ( due to light weight) same reason I bought a 261. But I absolutely love my 361 and typically am running it with a 24" bar. Have been eyeballing a 462 or 500 I . But im only cutting fire wood these days and for short periods at a time . I can't justify the expenses untill my 361 dies and I think its going to run longer than I am am out lasting me at this point.

Stihl and Husqvarna been good to me. Love the pictures Donner. Just got done taking down a huge ash tree and replanted the area with aspen.

Enjoy the ash firewood, some of the best and splits so well. Ash borer is really hitting hard here now. Need to go bid 42 of them in 6 different parks for the county next week. Ash will buy the ranch for me one way or another...

Gotta have the good gas on those tricky jobs What would you quote the customer for full removal of this tree, minus stump grinding? Say there’s no power or comms line around. No bucket access, and with bucket access. I’m usually pretty close to guessing our contractors quotes, but sometimes I’m off by up to $3000. I’ll guess you’d charge $5000USDish for removal and clean up for the tree.
