I just started to skim through this because we're watching it now but never saw the current seasons. We have 5 seasons on DVDs. I know some things that are going to happen but I'll avoid more if I can.
Some of the characters on there are decent, including some of the bad guys. The worst written character on there is the daughter, Beth Dutton. It's idiotic. She's either lashing out at someone, ridiculing someone or whining. When the actors say they are starting to show her softer side (we're only in season 3) she is only slightly less obnoxious for a few moments. It's a joke. There are some reasonable and shrewd business and real estate deals, punctuated by idiotic behavior. Wolfy, if you write that essay, I'll certainly read it!
I keep thinking that maybe they'll write her off and find a good character to fall in love with Ripp!
It's funny how different women can have such different opinions of the same character. Beth was absolutely a fan favorite, often ranked #1 or #2 on polls of the best character on the show. Beth and Rip were so well liked they were given their own spinoff show after Yellowstone ended called Dutton Ranch which blew Kayce's spinoff show (Marshals) out of the water, ratings-wise.
The character of Beth is my hero and role model. When faced with difficult decisions in life I find myself asking " What would Beth do?" LOL
Far from a feminist, Beth is an incredibly strong woman that will take no crap from anyone. And as for Rip, he hit the lotto with Beth. No man could ever find a more loving and ferociously loyal spouse than she. God help the person, man or woman that does Rip wrong. If he/ she doesn't end up in the train station they'll sure wish they had!!!
She's a classy, well- dressed woman that's a shark in the business world but has no problem getting a little bit trailer- trashy if the need arises. If the world had more women like Beth in it it would be a heck of a lot better place!!!
