Cattlemen are finally making a good wage after many, many years of struggling. The guvment should keep their noses out of the cattle market. Free trade will take it where it should be. My daughter and son in law have a 100 mama cow operation on top of both working good full time jobs. We all voted for Trump 3 times, but he’s screwed the cattlemen big time with this beef deal. How did he screw the cattleman. Hasn't the big 4, Tyson, Cargill, JBS and National Beef been screwing the cattleman and the consumer for years? Trump went after them in his 1st term and his current term. What about the cattle coming in from Mexico. Has been for years. How does that help the American cattleman? A year ago, when I passed through Missouri, I noticed large areas of ungrazed grassland. Why. Trump is only trying to ease the pain as quickly as possible since it will take years to regrow the herd. Is Tyson closing plants do to the fact that their illegal help is being deported and it looks better than admitting they have been screwing the American cattleman and consumer. In 2024, 2.84 billion pounds of beef was imported into the US. American cattlemen raise beef for steaks and roast. Not your hamburger. Isn,t hamburger the most consumed beef in the US. And the item the people are (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) over. If you want to turn the voting public against Trump and the Republicans, make their number one food consumable expensive. Trump is trying to level the playing field and is the only president in recent history to do so. For the cattlemen that they think they are being screwed, what's their 90 day solution to lowering the beef prices? Maybe this is the big 4 paying Trump back for them getting busted on their antitrust racketeering. And only 2 of them are American owned companies. Do you think the big 4 kissed any the cattlemen before they screwed them over the years? Why do we need a 90 day solution at all? What happens at day 120? His announcement took thousands of dollars out of my pocket as our fat steers were ready to sell now thru Oct. That's a screw job in my book. MAGA Republicans can no longer be trusted, wont vote for anyone with his endorsement, if Republicans care to continue to seek the Rural vote they better distance themselves or it wont turn up. If he wanted to do something useful they could look into Fuel prices which are causing a heckuva lot more pain than Burger prices for most families and are a direct result of His policy's.

If one cattleman sells his herd due to conditions, and another buys the herd, were still at the same number of beef. Don’t really understand where these numbers come from , or if their even close to accurate. If they’re sold to be killed that’s different I guess, but most cattle sold due to drought or disaster just change hands. No shortage of game, and sure is fun retrieving it.
That's it. They're not being traded between producers. Producers are selling off the herds for slaughter. Its been going on for a while. Producers are deciding to raise less beef next year than last. They did the same thing a year ago. Next year prices will be higher yet. From last page: She explained it like this... Producers want to sell their cattle because they can't afford to feed them. But no one wants to buy them... Because they can't afford to feed them. And no one is trying to breed them. Moving bred heifers is tough right now... Because no one wants more mouths to feed in their herd.

Why should he do anything to help OR hurt farmers???
How about just saying the heck out of private enterprise altogether??????
He's been saying all along how tariffs don't hurt consumers....
if that's the case WHY lift the tariffs on Mexican beef?
Regret is the one thing I just won't do ~~ Beth Dutton

You think more subsidies for corn growers helped cattle growers? Notice who got direct payments, not ranchers...
I have no idea why you posted Google screen shots that don't show support anyways but thanks I guess.
We know the market won't stay high forever, we know that. I'm angry it's been artificially manipulated down in the fall when we're most susceptible to swings to try and buy midterm votes. One guy in Washingtok isn't supposed to be centrally planning the economy and picking winners and losers.
Getting hammered by fuel cost, hammered by parts cost from tarriffs, equipment cost from tarroffs then having our own product we produce here devalued. Ridiculous.

Sounds like Donnersurvivor is the only one with any skin (or beef) in the game but some still tell him he’s wrong…… What’s next? Going to tell him how the Arborist industry actually works?……..lol Lots of cowboys on here, but not much for ranchers except DS.
I fool around with cattle every now and then but have no real experience in the big industry. My uncles & cousins are all farmers, but not too many have a big steak in the beef industry. They always complain about prices and weather, but they always had new trucks. That’s the going joke at gatherings so they stopped complaining……lol One thing I know, it’s been dry in the western prairies for a long time now. Lots of our feed heads that direction.

We've just invested so much into cattle, literally most of my net worth. Noise from Washington was saying "rebuild the herd", well were trying, we've put a ton of effort and money into just that but then we're shown how much they really value our work and investments by importing tarriff free meat and selling it at a centrally planned price.
My land is worth more to developers than ide make growing cattle, I could sell out and retire real early, get a part time job and spend time with family and trap, hunt, fish. This is the real reason the herd shrunk in the first place, sure drought hurt numbers some but not as much as long term low prices did. Sell out and retire or keep swimming up stream, decision gets easier as you get older I've observed

I have an older rancher that borders me that retired from the cattle business 2 years ago. He sold his herd to a young rancher just starting out and his place borders mine on one side. About 200 head he bought and he told me that he will have his herd paid for this fall that he bought. That is pretty good and I wish him well in the ranching business. He is maybe 23 years old and he got in at the right with a good start.

90 days is just a patch that may reduce prices a little but not a lot. Then back in the same place.
But small producers running on tight book alleeady wondering if its worth the work and investments and need to sell during those 90 days to cover expences will be hurt and some my go out of business.
To me this is not just a political stunt before mid terms but also one more play to drive out the little guys. The large corprat producer can cut back production absorb the cost and restart when market conditions are favorable. They can buy out the little guys going out of business cheap and just get larger. Seem like a replay of the same old movie.
Got to love the people acting like farmers are swimming in cash with the increased prices at the store. Every single cost to the farmers have also gone up and the small increas in sale price does not make up for the increased production cost. So many that have never ran a business let alone farm have a lot of incorrect assumptions. I find a lot of it comes with a touch of jealousy when they look at the land they wish they had but cant afford. They dont see what it to to aquire that land. I looked for land about 6 years in 3 states worked 16 hr days and night for years and saved. Got lucky and was able to get some of my great aunt farm when my uncle passes at a good price. 10 years in and I still cant afford to get it fenced and set up to be productive as I want. Things were coming together but now im considering selling out for several different reasions but mostly my health.
Increased land prices dont help the farmers. I could struggle trying to get things going and not make in 10 years what I could make selling the place. About all my net worth is tied up in 3 properties. One look at my net worth then bank account balance will very quickly show im land rich and cash poor.

So your beef is all grass fed and not finished on corn? Are you implying sending a subsidy for a product already produce somehow lowered my cost? Half the reason we're in this mess is because of subsidized crop insurance, plant corn on garbage land and your still guaranteed a check. Much of what is currently in row crops should've been pasture all along and likely would have if Row crop wasn't subsidized.

When and if we have a long term beef shortage, how will that impact the leather supply? Don’t think we use most of the hides now. I hauled trash from an IBP plant and the hides were salted down and shipped to China.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.
