I was primarily talking about how many dollars go to China in commerce. I question whether the country could even survive if we bought nothing from them.

But as JStat pointed out, we DO spend taxpayer dollars there too, although no where near as much as in other countries. In 2024, for example, it was ~$10 million in foreign aid. Tiny amount. And yes taxpayer dollars go to grants in China, mostly for medical research, ala the Wuhan lab....... but again not large amounts.

Around 300,000 Chinese students receive free or subsidized college education in the US every year too. The record year was 372,532 Chinese students. Around a 1/4 of all aid given to foreign students in the US goes to Chinese students. That number should be zero. It's stupid to educate your enemies, or to help them in anyway. That likely costs at least 12 billion a year.
