Anyone dealt with this can it repair itself.

Maybe very minor tears and very minimal damage, may self heal. But...

Surgery and lots of Physical therapy will usually be needed, especially with heavy damage/injury.

Look up the process on medical web sites.

Check with a physician that deals with sports medicine, or one that knows how to evaluate your personal injury.

They will install screws, pins, and manmade ligament materials.

I had both sides done a few years ago after a work related injury.

My motivation to speed up the healing process was my desire for traditional bowhunting.

I have had five rotator repairs. All were full-thickness tears. Ain't fun, but the last few were not as bad as the ones in the 1980s. Surgeons are getting better, I think. Two of my early procedures were open surgeries. Recovery and pain lasted much longer. You will not have use of the bad arm, and only limited use of your good arm. Light duty! Recovery is about six months. No shooting this year. Best to sleep in a recliner the first week. Ask about the ice water pump device. There is also a foam block called a Carter Cube that really helps stabilize your arm in bed. I always ditched the sling they gave me at the hospital in favor of a thin, lightweight nylon model I found at a local drug store. Much more comfortable and not so hot.

A friend gave me some good advice. Always use an old lawyer and a young surgeon.

Buy an arm sling for the arm you are having repaired from Amazon and bring it with you. The one they put on me at the hospital cost me $800 bucks. Not kidding you. Sling and fitting. $800

Ah nope my hardheaded wife put off getting hers fixed over two years, doc told her at the first visit let him fix or keep hurting.

I fell years ago and hurt mine. PT made it so I could lift my arm again and I got 75% out of it.

Fast forward 15 years and it still bothers me and I have noticed I favor my other arm and the bad arm is getting to look like one of those crabs with one strong arm. Range of motion is really reduced too

I must use it differently because I seem to be pulling shoulder/chest muscles on that side a few times a year.

Should have continued with PT and/or had surgery.

I tore my left rotator cuff in 1985. 2003 I was thrown from the right side of a vehicle to the left, over a radio and through the window twisting my left rotator cuff. 5 years ago a "dead" alligator started moving towards the back of the boat towards my wife and I picked it up by the front leg with my left arm, while I held on to a line with my right had with a lively gator on it, hurting my left rotator cuff. If it isn't a major injury needing surgery, the best advice I can give is workout. I do pullups, shoulder presses, flies, farmers carry, dead lifts, squats, box, pankration fighting etc. A platoon Doc I had was a Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen, 18D grad and IDC (Independent Duty Corpsman). He was also my open water swim partner and a good friend. He told me I could get surgery or, make the muscles around the joint strong, thus supporting it and in the long run be more beneficial than getting surgery. My shoulder hurts everyday, but I found that keeping it strong and keeping the muscles around the area strong, I can function like a normal human being. I'm not a doctor, so before doing anything check with your doctor. But I've found that keeping in shape is the best way to deal with a shoulder.
