Had lunch today at The Varsity downtown and realized that I know the difference between Peachtree, West Peachtree, and Peachtree Center Streets. FCOL, I've been here to long.

I need some time away in lower Alabama to reset my bearings. My luck it'll be somewhere near Lower Peachtree, lol.

BTW, The Varsity is still "what'll you have" nasty. So I guess there's still hope yet. These Georgians set great store by bad food.

Oh, I highly doubt it. All Georgians do as do most all southerners who've ever had any dealings with the cesspool of the south, Atlanta.

Probably not, the three streets mentioned are in the same area and run parallel for a bit then not for the rest. There's also Peachtree Battle further north that crosses none of the above. There's a Peachtree Creek that isn't a road. And those are just main roads the average visitor will most definitely encounter on a visit. Every town in the metro has two or more Peachtree something or other.

BTW, Lower Peachtree, AL is a wide spot in road on the bank of the Alabama river in Wilcox county not far from my family homeplace.

You're lucky you made it out alive. That area is the worst sort of feral human colony.

In the short time I lived near Atlanta, I couldn't wrap my head around street names changing at every dang lighted intersection.

Evidently, an old tradition. Every county seat has roads radiating out each named for the next town it's heading to. Sounds sensible, but it isn't when the next town down names for the town you're leaving. That's why Georgia roads swap names at red lights. And Georgia lets every whistle stop podunkville do it's own naming.

I believe that 100%.....Was wearing a M65 field jacket with a 1911 in a shoulder holster, with 2 extra loaded mags.

Left Atlanta and went through Greenville, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and onto Raleigh NC.....That was running the gauntlet of cultural enlightenment!

Try it today. Can be just as eye opening. Don't know what was going down today but I wasn't going to stop and ask why grown folks were wearing cat ears, facepaint, and whiskers.

The couple times I've been in and around Atlanta the place scared the crap out of me, and I wondered "how can anybody live here?"
But people live where they work, and I'll bet Warrior asked himself that same question at some point, then got used to the place.

Worst place I can think of I drove through was Memphis. GPS took me through an area of block after block of run down boarded up housed and buildings. I was in my old 7.3 92 f250 pulling an 18'car trailer with my wife an infant son. I had no idea parts of Memphis were so rough its what I mentally pictured when I think of Detroit. I sure wasn't up tight thinking I hope we dont break down. I took a different rout on my way back up from TX
