Just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself,

Long time on and off lurker here. Grew up on the Kenai (Sterling area) and now live out Funny River. Work in Seward doing shift work for the State. As a kid I always wanted to trap, but never really had the chance. Took the refuge class as a teenager, but never did do it.

After a stint in the Marines, getting married, and having a small herd of kids my twenties sort of came and went, but over the last few years I've been getting that bug to try trapping again, especially because my oldest boy is now getting interested in the idea, and I'd love to get him involved. The most I've done trapping is a few muskrats, and some unsuccessful beaver and marten. So the hope is to find a few spots to try my hand this winter. I've done a lot of pouring over Google Earth and OnX, found some good looking spots, and started putting boots on the ground, with more to come as the season gets closer. Not having a snowmachine means I'm stuck close to the roads, and with my travel to and from work it'll be a lot of early morning and late evening checks, but I'm hoping I'll connect on something this year.

I look forward to being less a lurker and more a poster on here, and if there's anyone on the Kenai who doesn't mind a newbie picking their brain, I'd love to connect with some people. I want to attend to KPTA meetings, but they always seem to fall on my work weeks.

I've tried to go to them but doing shift work outside of town they always seem to fall while I'm at work. I've switched to a different roation this year compared to the last few, so hopefully they'll sinc up better.

Al - - Apparently a better abbreviation for Association would be Assc!

Glad to be here! I'd love to meet some of the established guys on the Kenai. I'm hoping this season work won't interfere with going to the meetings, it would be great to be able to pick the brains of some guys who know what they're doing.
