Thats cool. I grew an avocado pit to about 2.5' tall in a large pot puting it outside in summer and bringing n it in in the winter. One day we had some wind my sliding screen door that I had off to put new screen in fell over with the screen removed and fell over the pot. The top of it cut my tree off .

I have never tried to grow from a peach pit.. One of my 3 peach trees died this year.

Nurseries around here grow out pits to graft peaches onto. Common practice.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I have no clue about the growin of peaches so may be a stupid question. if the peach tree grows out of the pit why graph peaches onto it?

closest i got to eatin peaches when younger was out of c rats when in ..we never ate em growin up at home. Guess dad was more an apple type as we always got them.

My better half introduced me to fresh picked ones about 9 yrs ago. froze 15 quarts in simple syrup this yr for winter. a simple delight to make ya smile in january

no screen doors PF so with luck it may survive .. hopefully.. lol

We'll done. I have a bunch of cherry pits cold stratifying now.
Chances are your peach put will not grow true to its parent, but who cares, I always figure just the experiment is worth a try.
You also may have disease issues early on. Around here, if a peach isn't grafted onto hardy/resistant root stock it will get fireblight right away but we have a lot of commercial growers here which doesn't help, you might be just fine.

Just happy to be here.

Peaches, apricots, nectarines and sour cherries usually come out pretty close to the mother tree in fruit quality. Usually you get fruit from a peach pit, in the ground in 3 to 4 years. Grafting would give you the exact variety you put on the root stock.
