Think its time for semi engine overhaul. Been using antifreeze with no visable leak. Lots of antifreeze. 700000 hard miles. Construction miles. Mostly in cities. Constant acceleration and stopping. Off road on construction sites. Rough. Bad rough. Engine started losing powerr. Shaking. Shut down. Wont turn over. Locked up?Sitting on I 35 shoulder with triangles out. Wonder if they still need a hand to pull a possum belly in NE for a couple weeks?

I been expecting it. Only place that antifreeze could be going is ot the exhaust. Adding a gallon about every 350 miles. Hoping it would last till November when I take off till spring.

I had a four wheeler that would get hot and lock up. You weren't supposed to screw the dip stick back in, just dip it in with no threads after screwing it out. I was the length of threads low on oil and over heating it. That was my first quad back in the day. No major damage. Wish I still had it. Hopefully its something simple.

Hopefully they can do a quick in frame for you and get you back on the road.

I thought this on my 94 Toyota. Turned out when I pulled the motor and was tearing it down the machine shop found the timing chain had gotten loose and ate a hole through the timing chain cover into one of the paths antifreeze ran through. Allowing it to get into my oil. Had a milk shake for oil.

Could have been a lot cheaper fix had I know that but by the tim I found out I already had bought all the parts to rebuild the motor so it get rebuilt.


Sure stinks to hear you are having problems with your rig and are sitting in the side of the road.

sounds like head gasket time. hope that cures it.

I’m guessing you had head gasket failure, got liquid pooled in the cylinders, and now have hydraulic lock.

With any luck the valves won't have bent and wrecked anything.
