Removed a skunk the other day. Did not spray or smell after, the fist one ever that I could skin without the wife complaining. I extracted the essence and put it in a glass jar and the smell escapes. Double bagged the jar, same thing. How to store without the smell or minimize the smell? Using the essence for bait making.
Thanks

I do ship skunky products in vacuum sealed bags and have had nothing but positive things from the customers and the ladies at the post office for doing it.

Skunks smell?, thank goodness my wife doesn't notice.

To minimize without using a vacuum sealer
Take an old paint can fill halfway with cat litter, floor dry or sand. Put essence container in. Top off with litter,sand....tap paint can lid back on.
Ive done it with Mason jars too.

We buy new pint and qt size paint cans at the local Napa store. They do some paint mixing there so they have them on hand. I have been doing business with them for years so it is convienent to get them there.

I pack the essence bottles with foam packing very well and pack the one or four ounce jars into the can and hammer the lid on. No odor what so ever.

I've had good success putting the glass container in a good Ziploc bag and then placing it in a old plastic coffee can and finish filling the coffee can up with cat litter. Kitty litter seems to absorb the skunk.

I store my skunky stuff in ammo cans. That heavy rubber seal on the can works well to keep the stink in the can.

Black tape around the lid, or better yet, dip in wax. Then vacuum seal it. Skunk odor will seep through about anything, but vacuum sealing will hold it in for quite a long time (like a year or better) before it manages to seep its way through the plastic.
