We have a nuisance beaver on one of our properties that is hitting the trees early. Normally they go after the willows and we don't care about those. By time they go after the better trees trapping season is open and we can control them. I was looking at getting a nuisance permit for the beaver to keep them from getting at our good trees. Question is about the pelts for this time of year, are they good or should I wait to trap them. It would be a lot of work to protect the trees they are targeting but I also don't want to take a beaver if I can't use the pelt or its not good. Let me know.
Thanks

The pelt would not be worth it at all. But if you use the rest of the beaver it may be worth it?

Eswets, under Illinois nuisance animal control laws can't keep pelt, castor, skull, tail, etc

MChewk, I did not know that. What a waste. Before I started trapping, a company come out and would take half dozen beaver a year and just throw them away. Now I trap them and save as much as I can. I guess that I'm doing it the hard way to protect the trees. Not going to waste a beaver.
