Good news but why did it go straight to federal court? Is that how it works in Alaska? Was is because it happened on federal land?

I had a few trespassing dog-walkers prosecuted at the local District Court level. One said he was going to appeal. That happens at the County level in the Court of Common Pleas. But when he realized that if found guilty on appeal his penalties would have essentially doubled, he paid his fines and fees.

Eh...wot?

No media coverage, “a small fine”, no real consequences for threatening bodily harm to an individual acting lawfully and zero mention of restitution for destruction of property. It might be a win but it feels like a “fuel mileage” win.

It was on federal land so they had jurisdiction

Given the setbacks we had this year with the Board of Game, I’ll take what wins we can right now.

Good I hope the trapper gets restitution for lost traps and fur too.
