What are you fur trappers doing this month to get ready for this trapping season? I already have my trapping gear and wax dirt ready to go. I'm going to set up a few trail cameras for bobcats and coyotes in several days.

A few “return” permissions to get and with the daily temps dropping into more of a comfort zone, I’m on the scout for mink sign AND frigin water! All gear is tuned, prepped, ready to rock & roll. BTW, I might have to fondle my traps a little between now & 12/1.

Same here, made mine out of some old wore out beaver boards.
Got some new 3/4 inch plywood from a bridge forming job for free to make some new beaver boards.
still have to cut the slots in some and staple the screen on the back, and make up about 30 more.

Got all my traps dyed and waxed, or powder coated for my white wolf traps. Made 50 gallons of waxed sand this afternoon, and then went and grabbed about 35 more gallons of sand tonight to wax tomorrow. Should be ready then, although I could use a dozen new marten boxes if I get time and the wood. I'll have to be eyeballing dumpsters. wink

Which method do you use to make your waxed sand.

I am using the cement mixer method this year. I screwed around and waited too long to use the solar method (needed to do it early before the wildfire smoke, and by the time that cleared up it was too late and too cool) so went and borrowed a cement mixer from a friend of mine. I've used it in the past and it works fast and well, but I've never gotten around to getting my own cement mixer, so more often than not I use the solar method rather than having to borrow one.
