I put the one that works in the gun room thats locked. She never goes in there. The one she turns up and down is a dummy one. I disconnected it two years ago and ran the other in the gun room. She turns it up and down all winter thinking she's doing something.

That qualifies you for genius status! Well done!

My theory has always been if you are the one working you get to decide the thermostat setting. If your cold go put more clothes on.

I was laughing about this. Had to share it with my wife. Unlike most women she can handle laughing at things women stereotypes without getting offended by it at least most of the time.

She shook her head and laughed, especially when I pointed out how you wife never clues in its not doing anything. But that could be fluctuations in hormones depending on her age and your method keeps the house at a steady temp and your system not fighting itself going up and down.

Mined thinks that if she drastically lowers the lowers the thermostat, the AC will work harder. When I tell her the compressor is either on or off, she says “I know that”, but she still does it.

When we travel and stay in a hotel, she sets the temp to about 65 degrees, but at home we set it at 74 or 75 degrees.

When we travel abroad, the Centigrade scale really screws her mind.

Had a friend that was the maintenance director for a country school system. Schools had radiator heat back then. On teacher always complained that her classroom was not warm in the mornings. He put a 24 hour recording thermometer on her desk. She still complained. He mounted an old thermostat on the wall. It was not connected to anything. The teacher could adjust it at will. She never complained again.
