When were these made and were they a short run?
The reason I am posting this is No one that we have asked can remember a 1 1/2 pan like that.

These were made for a short time around 1976, between the square pinch pan and the round pan #1 1/2.

That is what we thought at first. But the pan is stamped 1 1/2.

I always called them 77’s but snakecollector knows best. I still use a bunch of them for water trapping and there are 2 versions. The first model the loose jaw is very close the pan and the updated version is like the ad snake posted

For some reason I think I saw traps like that at stores like Cabelas back in the day.

There was an oval pinch pan made prior to the square pan. Both oval and square pans were also offered in a double jaw model. Snakecollector would know the time frame and history hopefully he can clarify.

The oval pan #1 1/2 Victor coil came out in 1939 and was changed to the square pinch pan in 1945. The square pinch pan #1 1/2 Victor coil was avaliable into the early 1970s.

With the square pinch pans how does someone tell at what time were they made.

Good info Snake!
Can I ask you, did Gibbs produce the FIRST # 1 1/2 coil spring and in what year? AND were there any other companies that made #1 1/2 coils around that time frame 1930s?
Thanks ahead of time

Triumph had the Easy Set coilspring trap in a #1 1/2 size by 1928. Gibbs had the #1 1/2 Single Grip coilspring by 1929 and Norwich Wire Works had thier #31 1/2 Spiral Spring by1929.. Gibbs bought out Triumph in 1933 and Animal Trap Company of America bought out Gibbs in 1936, acquiring both the Triumph and Gibbs traps. ATC came out with their first coilspring trap, the Victor Two Triger in 1937, acquired from Gibbs. 1938, ATC came out with the #2 and #22 Victor coilspring traps. Then, in 1939 they came out with the #1 1/2 Victor coil.

ATC/Woodstream also made the Blake and Lamb #1 1/2 coilspring, a Victor with Blake and Lamb pan.

I guess I am missing the mid 1970s #1 1/2D, double jaw. Although, there is not one listed in the catalog, they may not have made one. Anyone have one ?

I like how they added the impressions on the levers for strength. I had a couple smooth ones that got bent somehow.
