I’ve been grinding fish to make a bait for coon and mink. Really would like to find a good binder. I tried using fish meal but wasn’t crazy about the results.
Really would like to find something that’s edible and doesn’t throw the flavor of the bait off.
Any recommendations?

I dont do anything but grind shad whole and fresh. Then freeze it in quart jars. Thaw as needed. Ground fish in a hole is not easy to remove. Keeps the critter there, moving its feet around to remove it all.

For coons nothing I have bought or tried beats ground whole and fresh crawdads.
