Go to Saltgrass in Arlington and get a steak and mashed potatoes. Plus they have really really cool decor on the walls. Lots of deer mounts and traps, old fishing gear hang around.

If you are in Low country SC , maybe someone can help you find a good crab place , fried chicken place and someplace can put you on a low country boil.

What goes around comes around... I've ate his fermented mungduk, seal oil, stink heads, etc., he's going to have to suffer in turn. If y'all think any local delicacies, let me know. Speaking of that, are ramps in season in October?

If the is way different than what he is used to, be prepared for some serious gastric upsets!! Life in the bush does not prepare the tummy for city food!

We flew to Kenai, AK, and then to Chicago, IL. It's been fun watching him try new foods. Not so fun smelling the after affects.

All the new meats, fruits, and vegetables we are trying are going over well. New seasonings seem to be enjoyable to him.

FL cracker, if you are going to Dwight Illinois next, Google Diana Oughten. History from 50 years ago that Dwight would rather forget. Wealthy family sends daughter off to college and she becomes radicalized and is blown up by a bomb being manufactured by the weathermen.

What new foods are you trying you couldn't make in KSM?

Fresh fruits and vegetables, especially local varieties, and things cooked with recipes we are unfamiliar with.

Last time I had paw paws, was in October, around the second week of October. Never had them in North Carolina, wouldn't know the season there.

Look into "lactaid", should help him digest dairy.

Thanks, Donnersurvivor. Never had that problem, so unfamiliar with cures for it. Ate some fresh roasted sweet corn in Dwight, was peaches and cream. Good, but not as good as silver queen.

There is a theory that when the first Vikings began to settle lands in the new world and brought cows with them they gave Inuit people milk and as it made them sick from lactose intolerance (and the Scandinavians did not get sick) they figured out they were being poisoned and killed and drove off the first settlers. Explaining why those first settlements failed.
