They've been trying it for a while. Wouldn't surprise me.

Can't find any news on the "webs newer than July stating that the ban proposal was "killed."

Colorado didn’t need any help from California. It has Denver. More people in Denver than in the rest of the state put together. Denver dictates what all of Colorado does.

Sucks big time.

This is all the NTA email stated about it:

• Fur Sale Ban Petition: The commission narrowly voted 6–4 to approve a citizen's petition to ban the sale of fur in Colorado, drawing heavy opposition from sporting and trapper organizations.

Odd, cause in a July meeting, CPW voted to kill the ban proposal.

Denver used to be pretty normal for a city. 50 years ago. Nancy I bet you remember when the state fur auction was there. City of Denver had no problem with it. It was a big deal. Lots of fur sold. Then. Not now. Along the front range on either side of I 25 its purt near city now from NM to Wy. Mountains attract liberals.

Folks from California moved to Denver to "live in the mountains".
Colorado has four major elk herds and the largest elk population in the US Ive heard. Denver folks will eventually vote to get rid of elk hunting which will take away alot of revenue hunters spend in the state.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

There's this from the Center for Biological Diversity, the libtard organization that started this crap:

CBD Petition

Commission Votes to Limit Sales of Fur From Colorado Wildlife

DENVER— In response to a petition filed by the Center for Biological Diversity, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission voted 6-4 on Wednesday to begin a rule-making process to prohibit the commercial sale of furs taken from the state’s wildlife.

“I’m glad the commission recognized how critical modernizing Colorado’s wildlife management is to addressing the dual crises of biodiversity loss and climate change,” said Samantha Miller, a senior carnivore campaigner at the Center. “Furbearers like beavers and bobcats have incredibly valuable roles to play in nature and shouldn’t be wastefully killed by hunters and trappers trying to make a quick buck. I’m thrilled that the commission recognizes that furbearers should have the same protections against for-profit exploitation that Colorado’s big game animals enjoy.”

In contrast to the protections given to game animals like elk, Colorado Parks and Wildlife currently allows the for-profit sales of all species classified as “furbearers,” which can be trapped, killed and sold in unlimited numbers. This includes beavers, ringtails, red foxes, pine martens and bobcats, as well as swift foxes, an imperiled species of special concern in the state.

The North American Model is a set of principles that Colorado’s wildlife agency and many other wildlife agencies use to guide wildlife management and conservation. A core tenet is the prohibition of commercial sales of wildlife, as commercial sale and use not only led to declines in iconic North American animals but also the extinction of species such as the passenger pigeon.

Although Colorado Parks and Wildlife recommended denial of the petition, the commission is the ultimate decision maker on citizen rule-making petitions. Now that a rule-making related to the petition will be initiated, Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff will draft rules for formal adoption by the commission. Those rules will be voted on for final adoption at the commission’s May meeting.

Then there is this from Commercial Fur Sales

Commercial Fur Sales Statement

On July 17, 2026 the Parks and Wildlife Commission (Commission) voted to terminate its rulemaking to consider regulations prohibiting the commercial sale of furbearer fur.

In June 2025, the Center for Biological Diversity petitioned the Commission to amend Chapter W-0 regulations to prohibit the commercial sale, barter, or trade of furs from furbearer species in Colorado with limited exemptions.

In March 2026, the Division recommended the CBD petition be denied. The Commission did not follow the denial recommendation and instead voted 6-4 to initiate formal rulemaking on the citizen petition. Division staff drafted an issue paper, which articulates the regulatory issue and potential changes to current regulations. Potential changes to regulations were based in part on suggested regulatory amendments described in the petition. Other considerations that staff weighed when drafting the issue paper included public and stakeholder input, statutory provisions, enforceability of proposed regulations, and potential exemptions not included in the petition.

The issue paper(External link) was presented to the Commission for initial consideration at the July 16-17, 2026 meeting(External link). On July 17, 2026 the Commission voted to terminate its rulemaking to consider regulations prohibiting the commercial sale of furbearer fur.

The Division engaged the public, stakeholders, and Tribal Nations as part of the rulemaking process. More information on the engagement process and feedback received is available in the Division's Commercial Fur Sales Public Engagement Memo(External link) to the Commission.

So apparently the Wildlife Commission voted in in March in favor of creating rules to limit or ban the sale of fur.

They later reversed that decision in July and voted to terminate the rule-making.

Glad to hear the CO fur sale will go on!

Yeah...... the whole email is pretty confusing.

Seems to be a lot of partial and cut-off sentences...... anyways here's the entire email.

Seems that the part in bold is inaccurate.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Commission has faced intense public controversy over recent rule changes, public comment restrictions, and lawsuits.

Key Controversies & Recent Actions

• Furbearer Harvest Limits & Lawsuit: In July 2026, the CPW Commission voted 6–5 to impose a strict limit of two animals per species per day on 17 furbearer species (including bobcat, coyote, beaver, red fox, and pine marten), overriding staff proposals of four or eight animals per day. In October 2026, Safari Club International and the Sportsmen's Alliance Foundation filed a lawsuit against CPW, claiming the commission adopted the last-minute restriction without sufficient public notice or comment.

• Public Comment Restrictions & Backlash: In early September 2026, CPW Commission Chair Jay Tutchton unilaterally attempted to limit public comments, citing concerns about elected officials "grandstanding" and the ongoing election season. Fellow commissioners quickly moved to overturn the chair's decision.

• Fur Sale Ban Petition: The commission narrowly voted 6–4 to approve a citizen's petition to ban the sale of fur in Colorado, drawing heavy opposition from sporting and trapper organizations.

• Prairie Dog Shooting Petition: A citizen petition filed by the Prairie Dog Coalition seeking to ban recreational prairie dog shooting on public lands has continued moving through the CPW review process, drawing formal arguments from conservation and hunting groups.

How to Submit Comments to the CPW Commission

• Written Comments: You can submit official written comments to be entered into the administrative record via the CPW Commission Public Comment Form.

• Oral Comments / Zoom / Presentations: To register to speak via Zoom or request a presentation slot, check the schedule and guidelines on the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission Webpage.

• Contact the Commission:
