… number of traps out isn’t necessarily relevant anywhere

.. setting only the locations you know will produce is more effective … more scouting and less random setting pays off

Cold i can cover miles upon miles with areas that may or may not have any sign depending on the time of the season.
I guess i should ask how much in square miles is needed tobe affective.

Next Question is can a cros stake ser up wench s side by side up ax hill ?

In arid country where the wind blows I set up on sign sure but I think reading the land is key. Choke points in travel ways will always produce whether the sign was readily available or not. Are on 24 hr checks or longer? How many cats do you think are available in your accessible areas? They want to feed, water, shelter, and breed and they have to travel to do either.

If prices are good Id be tempted to lay the steel out and adjust the number of sets to how much time you can spend running them. If you gotta spend some of that big gov paycheck to get some more traps a good western cat will pay for them PDQ.

Density = 1 bobcat per 5 square miles

It takes a magician to get one to step into a 3"×3" spot

Drags work perfect when it comes to preserving a productive cat set location IMO. Also in the way my mind works being effective just means catching the cat when he comes by. Will 12 work each drainage or just 3. The edge of a high bank creek you with ideal habit you end up with a quick replacement wondering in every critter you pack out so you gotta figure the immigrants into your potential catch.

Your cat density might be lower than around here but the prices you can get per animal will make me jealous. I have no idea what the carrying capacity is per each 100 square miles but half way thru the season you should have the answer and be dialed in for the big toms to start hittin the trails hard.
