I recently read that the ratio of Dem to Rep utilizing early voting is often as high as 5:1. Why?

Seems like a voter would prefer to vote on a day when it is most convenient, the lines are shorter, and he doesn't have to take time away from work. In my city, an early voter can vote at any voting location. On election day, we have to vote at our assigned location, regardless of the line and delays.

Does early voting or a larger turnout favor either party?

Please share your ideas.

I have to go to the county seat to vote early or vote right here in town on election day. That's the reason I most often vote on election day instead of early.

The democrats push early voting and mail in voting. Trump has raged against mail in voting. The other republican politicians cringe because a vote banked early is a vote no longer vulnerable to bad weathor or life's complications on election day.

Trump votes by mail himself, then he rages about how terrible voting my mail is because it stirs up some of his supporters.

My wife and I have voted by mail for years. It is great for the less prominate races & ballot questions because we can sit and home and research whatever we want before filling out the ballot. Back when we voted in person there would often be an obscure race we weren't aware of, that took us by surprise in the voting booth.

When I voted yesterday, there was a sign that gave the address of the next closest voting location in case the line was too long.

Since you mentioned it, I remember voting in another county about ten years ago, and early voting was only at the main office.

Yesterday I only had to wait about a minute, and there were at least a dozen election employees in the library to direct traffic and validate the voters. Everyone had to show their driver's license. When I handed the lady my license, she found me in the registration printout, compared my face to my photo, and asked me to spell my last name. There were about a dozen machines, and outside in the handicapped parking slots, there were two remote machines so a disabled voter didn't have to get out of their car.

I have become a fan of mail in voting. I have received ballots in 3 different names. Don’t know if somebody is using our address for nefarious purposes but 2 of the names appear foreign. I filled all 3 out and mailed them in.

Hopefully, there is a strong verification method on the receiving end.

My wife and I stayed at an extended-stay hotel in Denver about 10 years ago, when our last grandchild was due. There was a bank of mailboxes in the lobby and dozens of ballots on the floor and in the trash. I asked my daughter, and she said the verification is done at the election center. Heck, I could have voted a dozen times, and I didn't even live in the state.

Let's hope there are some tight controls.

Maybe the Democrat votes come in early because there is a larger amount of them that don't have jobs and have more free time and are in a hurry for more social free stuff.
Just a thought.

I se nothing wrong with absentee voting. But those have to be requested by the individual.

Seems like a lot of the guys on here cant differentiate between requesting a ballot and meeting the requirements to do so vs blanket mailing out ballots to every voter in a state without being requested and no verification on who filled them out.

Maybe becuse you dont have that happening in your state or you are not keeping up with whats going on. But to me there is a huge difference.

Personally I think there should be id requirements and voting day is just that voting day not voting week. With ballots being "found" days after.

I vote early because the regular voting day occurs during trapping season.

It seems to me early voting, at least here in MN, favors democrats. But it might also suggest people don’t like standing in long lines.

When my Bride got real bad with her MS she started using absentee ballots. The rural twp hall where we voted is less than a half mile up the road, so I just drive up and vote in person. I can honestly not remember if I ever used an absentee ballot. Its sorta a game to see if I can be the first to cast a vote on election day. I have pulled it off before, but there are lots of old retirees in my twp and most are early risers. Lots of Dems too on account of 90 % of them live along the lake in what used to be their cabin/cottage before they took their UAW retirement from downstate auto plants. We don't always see eye to eye on things politically, but most all these folks know the value of a buck and were hard workers.

Sadly, there are none. The only security built into vote by mail is a signature match, and that is routinely ignored. In AZ in 2022, they counted untold numbers of ballots with no signature at all. No signature match on front end when registering, and none on back end when vote by mail ballot is returned to be counted. Once a name is in the system, it is in. And state will mail a live ballot to that name at that address.........real person or not.......real address or not. It will go out.

So in situation above, what would prevent party operatives from rolling in to collect all those ballots? Nothing.......so they could go from hotel to hotel, apartment complex to complex, all over town where these ballots accumulate........and grab them all up. The reason they mail all those ballots out a month ahead of time is because once you harvest all those live ballots, it takes a lot of time for a small group of party operatives to open them all, vote them all and bundle them in stacks as needed to be dumped into the system at last minute. Some places accept ballots as late as 5 days after election is over and results are known. CA flipped two House seats from red to blue in 2024, still finding and counting ballots for 28 days after the election was over. The Democrat finally pulled ahead by a few hundred votes and they called it.

Just out today.......SCOTUS ruled you could not use a student ID as valid ID to show at a polling place. That is when voting in person. Again, with vote by mail, no ID needed on either end. Vote by mail is as corrupt of an election scam as has ever by devised by man.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

I would think that any voter who is employed would be the first person to vote early, or on a Saturday or whatever day he had off. If a person works outside (example: a roofer), why would he wait until election day if he had a rainy day a week before?

I have voted early and regretted it when unfavorable information came out about a candidate I voted for earlier.

I lived in a town that voted at the high school. The liberals objected that the school resource officer was on duty that day and might recognize someone who was a felon or fugitive. Voting on election day would not resolve this, however.

Where I live we had local voting locations, that were small and easy to get in and out of.
That has changed all local voting places are now at one place, plus they added another township to it.
My health won't allow me to walk that far as the parking is much larger, and the lines will be so much longer.
Early voting is the best bet for me.
So much BS about each candite that it's hard to believe in any of them.
Voting pure red, because I trust the party more than the others.

Not so true in Ohio, you need to send in a fax or picture of your government ID before they will send you a mail in ballot!
