Ok… for the third time posting this… I’m not writing all of it again and again.

I got these traps from my dad’s shed when he passed. Are they special or anything? Don’t want to clean them up if that’s not something to do.

Looks like a nice group of user traps. Mostly smaller size Victor. The most valueable one is about $6.00 to $7.00. Most of them are $3.00 to $3.50.

Cleaning them isn’t going to affect the value, maybe increase it a little bit since they are all users.

Good Luck.

The number 1 in the bottom row with the ribbed jaws has a little collector value. The rest good muskrat, weasel traps. The 1 1\2 coil can be used all the way up to fox if the springs are good.

Welcome to the forum. As was said nothing there looks special money-wise, but they are special because they were your father's traps. If your father had any grandkids.... they are perfect first traps to get kids interested in trapping..... hopefully you'll be able to put them to use this fall, and catch some critters in your dad's memory! smile

Agree. Probably good for using or selling to people to hang on the walls of their cabin or lake house. Those folks will pay too much for them, but good luck!

100% BC! It sucks bidding against one of these types at auction for a pile of junk steel…….a week later they’re on the local buy & sell page priced singly for what the guy paid for the whole pile!……..lol

I was given a bunch of old traps by my brother in law. He got them from his Ole Uncle John after he passed. His uncle John was quite a character, and we still miss having him around.
They hung on nails in my workshop so that I could look at them every day. That wasn't good enough, so I made it a goal to catch a critter with each one of them and then put them back on the nails to look at. I smile harder when I look at them now.

I was thinking the same about the #1 in the bottom row. You don't see them much anymore.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end the faster it goes.

Thanks. I’ll look up how to clean them and see what is usable. My kids bought me a “bobcat trapping” kit from Bass Pro that has a bunch of traps in it that I’ve never used. I’ll dig those out and see if it has some instructions as well.

My dad was in Indiana, so I’m sure that the traps were more suited for that area of the country. Or, maybe he just horse traded for them and never used them.. I’m not sure since I didn’t have a great relationship with him for the past 20-30 years. I’m in TX, so they may be small for this area.

They do hold a little bit of a sentimental value as well just hanging on the wall being seen. I’ll at least clean them up so that they don’t continue to rust away into dust.

It seems like trapping is a skill that isn’t being passed down nearly as much anymore. There is definitely an art to it… I’m a 4H Shooting Coach as well as Hunting and Wildlife Coach for youth here and it would be good to try to expose them to it, but I don’t understand it enough yet.

Thanks for your help.
