I'd like to try a formula (with my own 'tweaks').

it calls for mink glands, but all I have is a mink gland lure formulated by others [reputable!]...

since a commercial gland lure contains more than just glands, how would you adjust the amount?

I'm thinking twice as much gland LURE as the recipe calls for in glands.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Our mink gland lure is a large % mink glands. Smell it and you will know. Still using a large batch I made in the early 1980's. Good mink gland can over power a small formula easily if you are not careful. Unless that is what you are looking to do.

I wouldn't trust that everyone selling commercial lures is using much real mink glands. Real mink glands are getting close to the cost of what they are selling lures for. Ive got several pints of mink glands from a commercial dealer that im positive have a good amount of synthetic in them and thats back when mink glands were much easier and cheaper to get.

appreciate the replies!

this is one of the recipes in Russ Carman's book "Musk, Mystery and Misconceptions". Again, I was going to add my own "tweak" to it.

but his formula called for 1/2 oz. of finely ground mink glands to a four ounce base.
