How do you guys deal with those that come into a set and walk around it. But do not commit fully. I had this happen this weekend. I ended up catching him but only after I made some adjustments.i believe this will be a good topic for discussion.

Looky loos are either full up to their gills or have been around the block a time or two.

I think it happens more often than we know. A little snow tells a lot.

Set nearby blind trail sets, mafia sets with just a turd, no lure or urine, or snares on a nearby trial.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

I have done this before but with urine or lure on the turd I will give that a try next time without any additives to the turd.

Another variation of this is to use a turd from your own dog. But either way, coyote or domestic dog, coyotes are going to check out the turds. I don't like to use urine very often because it can habituate coyotes to associate whatever urine you're using with your sets, especially if you are using it at most of your baited and lured sets. With just a turd, they have to check out the neighbors to see whose been there and what they've been eating. Turds and natural pee posts are the coyote's social media. And they have to check it out just like we have to check out our favorite FB pages and leave a like.

Mr. Carl, I consistently catch dog-bellied coyotes that have just gorged on fresh dead pit scraps.
Greed & gluttony won't allow them to pass up a good baited set even with a full tank.

10 to 20 ft on uphill side.. Up hill is a key

Build a post set blended in well... But do not lure or urine of any kind.. K9 will looky loo from above and then go to mark something..

Give it another lure or urine it'll give it something else to looky loo at. Keep it natural and they'll wonder right in with its attention paid on the smelly stinky set..
