I like to hang mine up. Try to keep them far enough apart so they won't touch each other and allow enough air to surround them. And I have a couple of fans going nonstop when I have furs and hides that aren't dry yet.

I use small screw hooks in the rafters. i put the hooks about 3" apart then i hang by the tip of the stretcher. some guys hang them by the nose and others hang them by the base of the stretcher. i also keep a small fan going all the time once i have pelts on strecthers.

Hang your coon from the base (tail end) this will keep the grease from running down on your fur.
Use a fan to keep air moving and the use of a dehumidifier will really speed up drying you have to get the moisture out of your shed.

Great tips guys. Last year was my first year and I would take an rag and wipe the leather off every day intill dry. Does that help to wipe them off or am I wasting my time? Thanks buckmaster

Dosen't hurt a bit. Another thing that will speed the drying time on coon tails Is rub In a little borax. The tails are alway's the last thing to dry

good thought beav, but i put up most of my coon on wire, in this case it makes no sense to hang from the base, the tail would flop down over the back.
