I got a thing in the mail today from Groenwalds just telling the pick up routes and how they wanted the furs to be handled. It stated that grey fox should be dried fur in like coons and rats. Is this true? I have always done mine fur out, and never had anything said to me. Does it make a difference or not?

Got the same letter....I've always put them up like reds. But, since my move to Defiance, where they seem to be non-existant, I try not to fret too much. I'll continue to put them up fur out, should an explosion of them show up in my traps.

For some reason, Groenwald wants Grey Fox fur in. To the best of my knowledge, they are the only buyer that wants them that way.

Our buyers here in the western US want them fur out.

If you ship fur in grey fox to NAFA, they will be put up separately and will not bring as much money.

So - YES it does make a difference. Figure out who you are going to sell to and find out how they want them handled.

All through the 80's if i put any up they were put up fur in just like coons. Large buyer i sold to put them all up fur in, i never saw a grey fox put up fur out till i got on here lol.

But like alot of furs now IF your going to ship to NAFA you best get up to speed on all the mickey mouse junk they claim is BEST!

Yep ... I am one of those Yankees and I was putting them up fur out throughout the 1960s ... and at that time that is the way the buyers all wanted them .....

Fur in deal on them was a SE deal im sure.

Grey fox all look alike so it's dumb to have to turn them fur out. A red fox or coyote may be all sorts of shades or colors, same as cats, need to see how spotted up they are.

Dad and I always put them up fur in. Didn't know anyone wanted them fur out. Sold em in Ohio in the 80's to Ohio River Fur Co, a Mr. Smith that dad knew, and Paulette Fur Co. They were put up with the fur in and the buyers didn't mention that they should be fur in.
