Helmet = open casket
No helmet= closed casket
Around 1980 when I went to the Yamaha dealer to buy a helmet they had a big sign for "Bell" helmets that said, "If You Have A $5 Head, Wear A $5 Helmet". I walked out of there with a helmet that cost me 3 days pay! I hate to admit it but, I chose not to wear it more than I should have. But it was my choice. Sold the bike and helmet when we started a family.

It's interesting around here because almost every bicyclist I see wears a helmet but I see a lot of motorcyclists with no helmet. For me I guess it's just common sense and comfortable to wear a helmet.

Mandatory till 18 here, after that it probably would take a close one to have many wear one, still see a lot of older
people wearing them,
I have one but rarely wear it, but carry it for out of state in case of need of laws

Here the main transportation is four wheeler bikes, and snowmachines, and not one person wears a helmet. We dont have any asphalt or concrete though.

Fun Fact: I some areas on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, its illegal to wear a helmet.
The reason being is that they have terrorist there and want to be able to identify them on CCTV if needed.

I watched a guy on a Motorcycle glue a wig on his helmet and got pulled over. One Officer was laughing and the other wrote him a ticket anyway. Wrote it for some BS thing about offending an officer ot Wasting his time or something. It was thrown out of Court. It was in the Charleston Papers. I thought it was funny. Evidently the one Officer did to!!

Georgia has the helmet law.

But, a helmet protects only the one wearing it. Law does nothing to protect the general public, so I think it should be operator's choice......then it is a self-correcting issue. Rider don't wear it...rider crashes....rider possibly dies....nobody else is hurt by rider's failure to protect his noggin. Next.....

I'm not aware of any helmet law in Iowa. I have noticed there seems to be a lot of bikers that wear those big heavy boots though. Maybe their feet are more sensitive to injury then their heads???
