IV had the same experience with peanut butter. I bet it's the vanilla extract in the Nutella.

They don't avoid them IF a seed is showing and Pbutter is smeared on the bottom of pan I dont bait those. I run them like blind sets. Set them perpendicular to the walls with the pan against get the wall. No bait needed, most of the time.

Got another mouse in the plastic trap with Nuttella, they've totally avoided peanut butter for two weeks, butter and Nutella though have been connecting! What mouse species, sounds like maybe a house mouse?
