For excellent aperture / peep sights, look at Skinner Sights.

Swap the Winchester 94 for a Marlin 336 for a .30-.30 side ejection as in your photos. Or even better go with a Marlin 1895 in .45-70.

Problem is, if he could squeeze in behind the steering wheel, he wouldn't be able to breathe, let alone steer.
Your dad can't focus on the front site of a rifle. He needs a different gun that more readily accepts a scope which doesn't look as gay as what some peckers I know shoot.

You might want to look at some of the older Leupold compact series scopes like the M82.5 or M8 4x scopes. Shorter scopes with way better optics than those old Weavers. Your going to need the side mount if you want to put a scope on that 94.

My son in law has his grandpaps 94 in 32cal that's set up like this. I was skeptical about it until I shouldered it, I'd like to use it someday.
