Is there a water filter in the line.? We had a similar situation, filter was plugged.

There's a leak in the well which could be a bad pipe or coupling or a check valve may have a small rock caught in it or a number of other things could cause this .

this is a common cause. All though the cause could be any of the rest mentioned. Process of elimination.

Just a few thing you should know about well and the type of wells. You can push water further than you can pump it.
A shallow well will only draw water for about 26 feet. A jet pump puts half the water back down the well to push the water up. You cannot compress water. The air in the take is what give you the differential in water pressure in the tank using pressure switch, on-off Hi-low. I hope this helps.
