When cleaning up the old ranch yard from a junk pile with everything under the sun. I saved the iron off of this front fifth wheel part of the bobsled to restore. All the wood was rotted away and the steel runners where rusted through and mostly gone. I finally got a start on the front bob but have a lot of work left to do. There is about 70 holes that need to be drilled and some iron work and welding to get done yet.

That looks like quite the project. Looking forward to updates.

Is it going to be a show piece, or put to use?

We might put to use but will need to make the rear bob which is identical to front bob except it doesn't have the turning feature on it. It is all stationary.

I called an outfit in Fort Worth TX today that has land that borders my one side of my place. They have a couple bobsleds that are in a junk pile and asked if I could buy the iron from them for the rear bob. He said take it that what neighbors are for. A very wealthy outfit and was surprised in his response but I'm very excited now to get the material to complete the bobsled.

Someday I will go up in there and pack it out or use a sled and pull it out.

Hopefully you can get some good cast iron shoes for the runners. Work a lot better than steel does. I've got a few parts laying around. Holler if you need anything.

That is very kind of You!!!

I got all the steel for the rear bob but my delemia is the placement for the fifth wheel. The measurements in proximity for the U shaped supports or where the timbers go from the end or back of ski. No wood was good so I couldn't get that placement/measurement.
