peanut butter on a quarter piece of bread placed in back of the pan. Sounds like a sure fire way to catch a squirrel unless you disable during the day.

Apple oil has always been my personal favorite. Trailed with mini marshmallows, with big marshmallows stuck to the pan.

Have had good success with old fish flavored cat food mixed with tuna fish oil in tube no spray traps

Strawberry sugar wafers for coons, skunks and opossums for the last 27 years. A trailing squirt of fish oil seems to help. I've also caught 2 gray fox, 2 fishers and a bunch of gray squirrels with them (all incidental). I switched to the sweet baits to deter the housecats that fishy baits attracted.
