Sometimes you just can't argue, or it just isn't going to get you anywhere so why bother. Have always changed my oil. Figured over the years am close to 200 oil changes. Daughter went to VA for an internship. Changed her oil before she left which should have made it till she got back in May. She decided to stay until the end of July so needed an oil change. About 3-4 weeks ago I had her take it to the dealer out there. 2023 Kia Rio she saved up for, worked 6 summers for, bought new. I figured at the dealer at least if something goes wrong it is where it was bought. Yesterday she called and the oil light came on. Almost home (in VA) so she pulled in. Had her check it (she has helped change the oil) and it was high. Of course checking it when it is hot is not consistent. She drove it around the block to get a better parking spot and light was off. Had her check it this morning and same level. She drove it to the dealer and no light until she was almost there. They get it in and she texts me that they are looking for seal leaks and oil pressure. I call the service manager and he says the "technician" is looking at it and he will call when he finds something. Calls 15 min. later and says it is done. Faulty oil plug washer and was leaking oil. I (calmly) ask how low and he says just barely on the dipstick, new washer, filled with oil, ready to go. I said that when my daughter checked it twice it was high. He said it was low when they checked it. What can you do? I'm in MO, she is in VA, they aren't going to change their story and say that it was overfilled from their oil change and they just took some out. Still has 50K miles left on power train warranty and I keep all receipts for my oil changes. She has the receipt (no charge) from todays visit. So I thanked him and went on. Getting worked up/arguing was going to gain nothing. Just needed to let let it out.
