Not to add to the CWD thread but what about round up being sprayed on soy beans. EPA says no human contact. Don't let your pets around it. BUT same day farmers sparay beans deer are in them eating away. Maybe that is a trigger or can cause death over time from illnesses.... HECK might be where CWD came from . Chemical mutation of the prions......

Well I had a good friend that believed till his last day that wild pheasants and cottontail rabbits on his farm avoided eating gmo (roundup ready) corn waste grain. Shoot I spray it on my sweet corn and I do tell buyers that but no one seems to care, but I'm not selling it in Boulder so there's that. Gonna.die.of something someday....

Can you imagine world famine that would result without the use of herbicides?

Maybe they should go back to cultivating the corn instead of spraying it seemed to work years ago.

But the big company proffits..

I wont starve and have not needed to spray herbicides on my farm. But also stay small scale feeding under 10 families. Not trying to feed the world.

Begin to research past leadership at Monsanto and USDA........and USDA and Monsanto.......they tend to flip flop quite a bit.

Roundup probably cheaper than diesel, lol, plus the extra tractor time labor...

I believe round up is banned in all Europe. Isn't there a law suite where Monsanto is paying for round up causing cancer?

Pretty sure thats not accurate. In fact, I've seen videos of English? farmers dessacating their crops with it in order to make a more uniform harvest. Ive never seen roundup sprayed that close to harvest here in the U.S.. I dont care for how herbicide in general is overused but the fact roundup gets the most heat is wild. I can go to tractor supply and find a dozen herbicides id much rather avoid health wise than roundup.

When cultivation was common there were way fewer plants per acre, and planted so a field could be cultivated from two directions. Couldn't do that today!

Well iam talking 70's and we only cultivated the same way we planted.38 or 40 inch rows back then I dont think the plants were that far apart in each row but maybe your talking before then.

I have no idea. Aren’t the seed genetics modified so that Roundup doesn’t kill the plant. Maybe the better question is does the genetic modification pose a problem for us. Maybe the Roundup is harmless but the modified genetic are not.

In my area, corn, beans, peanuts, and cotton are all Roundup ready.

I spray around the border of my veggie garden to control grass and weeds. When I rented our farmland in the 70’s, I gave the farmer pallets of Roundup each year to control Bermudan grass. He grew tobacco, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, and grains. We did not have Roundup ready seeds back then, so the application was not directly on the growing crops.

Both my kids were born naked and unable to walk or talk for a year or more. We eat about five deer per year and they all graze on the cropland and bait piles.

I will just throw this out for food for thought. Before I retired in 2005 I ran or worked wetland areas. I was not a yield farmer. The law suit against Bayer formally Monsanto I think is over correct me if I’m incorrect. The lawyers have made their money. I ran a small wetland area were I farmed for wildlife with a JD 4430 with Ac. Every area in the state wanted it since I had the only Ac tractor in state. State got it when they purchased the area. I used no ckemicals..had a wheat clover corn rotation. Planted clover and used red and alsite sp. clipped after July 15 for the wildlife. Had a permittee farmer that planted corn and bean rotation. Don’t remember his yields but he continued to farm so it was making him $ or he would have stopped farming. I never saw a real difference. Only thing was in the winter I had all the China birds. 1500 on 680 acres as I kept cover. Bull rush in some of the pool. And the rest corn moist soil plants buckwheat and jap millet that in perfect years I have flown on at $5 an acre. Could not plant it for that back then. I guess to make things simple I saw no difference in conventional farming vs my non chemical farming. I hat a 7100 planter.and everything I needed to provide for wildlife. Only difference was I was a small operation and my permittee had a big operation. Sitting on my throne in the morning I watch the pheasants go down the roll of corn I planted and watched them pull the seed out by the plant and eat the seed. So I can see both sides. Only on that area 6 years and then got transferred. Not taking sides. Just throwing this out

Chemical companies say it dissipates in a short time.

However, some Dr's who test for it find it in human blood samples. Presumably from eating oat, wheat, corn and soybean processed products.

Ther have been people that had boxes of cereal tested and all of them showed chemical in them.

Wouldn’t worry about deer but chemicals have definitely crippled the bird and rabbit populations

We all like to think we are eating "organic" when we feed deer to our families, but the deer from farm country eat the same pesticides and herbicides and fertilizers as the cattle, and do it within hours of crop treatment.

Did they cut out all of the hedgerows where you live like everywhere else that's farmed anymore? That has a huge impact on bird and rabbit populations caused by lack of suitable cover to avoid predators.

They could out run that 12’ boom but they can’t escape the 40’ they use now a days.
