I have set some snares for beaver where they are coming up onto the bank and they keep on knocking the snares over and chewing behind the snares. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
13 rats, 10 coon, 1 red fox, 2 beaver, and 1 otter (released).

try setting in the water with about 2/3 of the snare underwater and about 1/3 above water with about the same size loop as mentioned above. guide him and break up the snare outline. youll have him the next trip he makes.

Buzzard as in too small I meant way too small, or of course it could be another animal knocking them down. I guess I should have spent a little more time on that reply.

it may be a bad reply buzz but it works for me. he said it was beaver that was knockin the snares down. he didnt say it was coon although it could be. and yes it could be otter but if its beaver like i said it works for me. ps thats what im talking about too put in the water and change things.

Well this morning me and my cousin went back to check them and it was dark still and we walk right up to it and a beaver jumped in the water and the snare was knocked over then we went back at daylight which was like 1 hour later and it was knocked down again and I have no clue how they are doing it. How do you all support your snares? with wire or what? My loop is probably 10 inches and 1 to 2 inches off the ground too.

maybe you could set a foothold there, that way he is there the next time he comes to knock it over. just make sure your trap is blended in very well. Might be a snare shy beaver, I have never heard of one but there is a first time for everything.
