Coyote boy, good job on the 'coons!

Bearcrazy, yes, I recognise the snare set-up! smile

Did you neck snare that 'coon?

One thing I noticed, is that you have so much verical entangement there that the kill pole never got to do it's job properly....BUT, good job on the 'coon! Nice catch!

I set up right almost inside the hole that way theres no way around the trap to get to the bait. I do this mostly because i am targeting mink. But i just proved it works well for coon to this morning

Yes I thought about that with all the briars but it was a good trail that was just to the left of the kill pole. I set the stake next to the briars to help camo it. The coon was body snared. I like that 5/64 1x19 cable. Seems quick and smooth with the Gregerson.

Hey ToddH you have me watering at the mouth now. I'm hoping to get some more pictures of other critters like muskrat or mink and a beaver.

If you didn't know better, you wouldn't even see the neck snared 'coon in the picture!

Trail was under water, due to heavy rain....didn't seem to bother the 'coons any. wink

Bait for Griz Traps;1 box strawberry jello,3 - 1x3x6 cheap sponges.1/4 oz loganberry extract,1 cup boiling water.Combine the water, jello, and the extract in an old 2 quart bowl. ( Don't use one of the wifes good bowls, the loganberry extract might not come out when you wash it )With a pair of scissors cut the sponges into 1 inch squares.Mix the jello well and as soon as the mixture starts to cool add the sponges.Keep sloshing the sponges around until they soak up as much as they will take.Store the sponges in a quart jar so they don't dry out.I put 1 of the sponges under the trigger and a large marshmellow in the top of the griz trap.Coons love them and the mice don't keep cleaning out your bait.Gets you about 50 baits and only costs a couple bucks.Who is next with an idea?

It's just a generalization of course. I like to think of timber+water+food source='coons.

Anybody go by the "telephone pole theory" for 'coon trails?
