It seems like 'coon aren't really affected if a trail is under 2" or 2' of water, Stateline Runner and I did some beaver trapping a while ago and caught 2 coon in 330's on a 2' deep beaver channel leading to some saplings, strange...

In VA, we can only use 160 size bodygrips on land in box, is this as effective as 220 for coon or don't try it?

160 are all we use for coon in buckets and on trails.

Thanks CoonBuster, do you use them because of the law or because they work that good. I don't mind using just legholds but that coni boxset looks to good not to want to try.

Here is my latest version of a 'coon snare.
Years ago, I used to snare 80-90% of all my 'coon.
I do not snare many 'coon these days, with a low 'coom market already, due to mark downs. I do snare some though that will not 'play my game'....and this is what I'm using to successful head snare 'coons. This is not a 100% mind you but it does work quite often in the right situation.

1x19-5/64th, Slim lock w/ a Sullivan B.A.D., loaded, double swagged, MB crunchproof swivel plus a tie off.(This short one pictured is for fence snaring.)

Here is one of my favorite sets now. Pound a lil grizz in on a trail with a big marshmellow pushed on the trigger and about 9-10 small marshmellows on top. This set here produced 5 nice big coon, all weighing in at 28-30 lbs. All males and total brutes.

Had a Trapmaster the other day set off and empty still standing in the same place I had set it. Couldn't believe it.

Those lil grizz sure make it easy, thats for sure. This is how I usually catch most of my coon. In my coyote sets. Although this year they weren't really coyote sets but coon, skunk, possum sets in disguise....LOL

Scratch my belly!!!
