Would anyone know of a supplier for 4" needles wedge shaped for leather, My supply is getting low and am having a tough time finding the longer style of sewing needles for beaver legs.

Tandy Leather does not carry Tri Edged needles, you have to get them from a taxidermy supplier. Like Van Dykes or TrueFit Mannikiens(sp?)

I have several different sizes I got from Van Dykes several years ago, I know they still carry at least one size though.

Try the Taxidermy.com forum for additional suppliers

Try any local leather craft places as well. What you are looking for is called a glover's needle.

You can also make them yourself. Get a big roundnose needle at a sewing store. Then just stone the tip on a carborundum stone until you work the triangle into it. One of my favorite needles started out as a carpet/upholstery needle that I honed triangluar as described. I like it best as I can use regular cotton string for the thread.....nice big eye.

The Wandering Bull. Online store

http://search.store.yahoo.net/cgi-bin/nsearch?catalog=wbtp&query=glovers+needle&.autodone=http%3A%2F%2Fstore.wanderingbull.com%2Fnsearch.html

I prefer their curved glovers needles because they are easier to manipulate.

Yes, Tandy does carry them. I have friends with a large leather store they bought from Tandy, and a stock of leather needles came w/the stote.
Adios,
45/70,

45/70 they may where you are but here the guy never even heard of them and his catalog at the time did not show them either.

Times change I guess !

Best selection for all kinds of needles has been the taxidermy trade.
