They only seem to eat a coyote if they are real stressed for food, I can't blame them! Coons and cats and others dissappear first. Im sure somebody on here loves coyote steaks.

Im not much of a bait guy but this year I tried something. I threw a bobcat, red fox and a coyote carcass all out in the same spot. A week went by and nothing. Then all of the sudden tracks everywhere and bob was drug all over the place. This was more than a month ago and today the fox and the yote are still in the same spot untouched. Got me thinking. Do you live near Jim Spencer? LOL Next time, Horns, try to keep those bobcats out of the dirt, would ya? The grit hurts my teeth.

Bobcat meat recipe.
Fresh killed and cooled bobcat. Debone hind quarters, cut off backstaps. Slice the chunked meat into 1" sections. Just as if useing any other meat clean all hair and blood off. Soak the meat over night in water. Rinse off and then marinate meat in soultion over night again.
1 can Sprite. After you pour the sprite into bowl save can.
1 can soy sauce.
1 can olive oil or vegtable oil.
1 tblsp. garlic powder.
Cook on grill or broil in oven. Don't over cook you want it about meduim done then cover with tin foil until ready to eat. This will let the juice redistribute throughout the meat. Very moist when done this way.
You will find the cats where they are, loCATion, loCATion, loCATion.

I've tasted raccoon meat before & I've even tried muskrat. But can't say I've ever had bobcat.

anyone that ever trys a yearling cat will never hope to catch old ones again. and as far as I`m concerned , yearling bobcat beats any wild game a man can eat. but the old sows and toms are tough and cat pe tasting to me. kind of a cross between veal, lamb ,rabbit, and pork, if you can imagine that. but more tender than any of them- if a young cat. often is the time I`ve commented we might be short on money, but no millionaire eats as well as we do, and he can`t pay me enough to sell him my cat meat. lol, maybe a pee-ee old sow or tom.....

Bob- how many pounds on average would a yearling bobcat weigh in a midwest state like Mo.? 22 - 25 lb cat better for bait?-or is that getting in to the pee-pee tasteing range?

river, you must have got an old one. ed, I`d say a kitten sow mid teens, kitten tom high teens, maybe 20. an older sow can be 20 lb, but it should be easy to tell an old sow. some baren sows can be teens or 20s and just too young to breed the first year. an old old sow can be like eating rubber they get so tough. if it`s not an obvious yearling, I feed it to the coyotes. they aren`t as picky as me. a cat has huge backstraps and hams, very hi % meat vs say a cow or porky or deer, relative to total body weight. they are all muscle. anymore I say goody goody when I get a kitten.I wouldn`t kil an 8 lber, but if it`s at least 15 lb or more it gets the ax. and the meat is worth as much TO ME as the hide. in the southern cheap cat states, I`d think worth far more than the hide.

I tried bobcat after I had some lion that I thought was great...bobcat is every bit as good, maybe a little better.

lol, I wouldn`t slow down enough for cletus to shoot. gives new meaning to the term shooting on the run. we could have shot lots of pheasant, but with traps to run, or set I`m bird blind. Fried pheashant would have made an excellent meal............LOL
