Maybe your anise has a high sugar content. Seriously, honey does the same thing. Nuke it for 20- 30 seconds and see if it liquefies again.

I've seen it do that when it gets cool. When warmed up, it got back to normal.

I have a couple of pints that I keep in my fruit cellar. The temperature there is about constant at 60F and I have never had it coagulate like that.
Wonder if the purity or grade may be a factor instead of temperature, or if oxidation may be responsible independent of temperature. Interesting.

I did a little research and found this....
Anise solidifies, or freezes at 59 degrees F., this is a criterion value of anise. During cold weather months the anise may become solid during shipping. Do not be alarmed, this is actually a normal occurance. In other words, if crystallization has occured, it is your assurance of good value anise. If the anise has crystallized, warm the anise oil until it is liquified and shake.

You can use warm water in a bowl to get it back to a liquid. You really have to get it warm for it all to liquify.I would not use a microwave. I always used hot water for years but then I was sometimes in a hurry to use it so I tried the microwave. I haven't had any problem with the microwave but be sure if the whole bottle is put in the microwave that the cap is just loosely on so it doesn't explode.
