How many k9 sets can you all get out of one, one ounce bottle of lure?
I'm not sure why they even sell it in that small of quanities, I'd think you need at least 4oz. to give it a fair trial.

This will absolutly not help you at all ADC. But your title made me think of an old Tootsie Pop commercial. The one where the little boy ask the owl "How many liks does it take to reach the center of a tootsie pop? The owl takes a few licks and then bites into it. Apparently I need some sleep
I love the smell of Castor in the morning!

No one answer here. Depends on the temp, the consistancy and strength of the lure, just to name a few. I knew that, it was more of a retorical question, the real question is why sell in such small quanities? Your not really giving the lure a fair chance to prove itself before you've ran out.

sometimes as i leave a set i ask myself the same thing lol, some lures will have on the label to use so many drops, but is a drop a eydrop or a pour drop lol, then the twig thing, how big is the twig, i remember one day the wind was so hard and cold in my face my eyes just poured water and was frosting all over my glasses, i lured 10 sets that day and noticed that nite in the garage i had used a whole four ounce bottle of super range coyote all call by lenon, pay off was 4 coyotes and a skunk over the next week lol, another time i broke the plastic lid on a 4 ounce bottle of milligans big time lure, it then spilled about an ounce into my lure bag when i crossed a fence, lost my temper poured it out beside a trail covered it with a rock and set, caught a badger there lol, when things are going right i get something like 25 dirtholes to a 4 ounce bottle 35 if just smearing some on a tree or stick, but i could sure use less, i would still like to know however just how many drops are in a one ounce bottle lol.

I am not sure that one can really get a good trial out of a 1oz bottle of lure. However, that is one reason that people buy this size, so that they can buy several different lures for comparison. That's the way the human mind works. However, if you are not getting good trials out of 1oz, then it follows that you are not getting good comparisons put of several different 1ox bottles.
In my experience, the skunkier a lure is, the less I probaby use, and will get more uses out of theat 1oz bottle as compared to another 1 oz bottle.
Every once in a while, I'll hit a lure that for speciality use is really hot, but you won't use it that much. One such lure for me is O'Gorman's Big Horns Medicine. It works really well for me in watermelon time, and not much the rest of the year - except maybe a few licks on a shot-out dove field.
With a 4oz lure, you "Know" you'r not going to run out, before your re-order arrives. Also, if you have a 4oz that's almost empty, you can afford to give it to someone else to try, like a young trapper just beginning to sort things out.
There are as many reasons to use, or not to use various sizes of lure as there are trappers.
Why is it even put up in a 1oz size? Perhaps because that's the size a beginning trapper can afford. Also, just as in fishing, you'll use the lure you have confidence in, and with that lure you can build-up a lot of confidence. Buying in 1oz sizes, can give you a wide choice of "confidence builders".
Besides that, I agree with donWolf, some of y'all probably use away too much lure.
Adios, 45/70,
